Privacy Policy
Last updated: [2025-10-17]
Hi, I’m Nathan Binding, and this is my personal blog at nathanbinding.co.uk. I’m a sole trader based in the UK, and I take your privacy seriously.
This policy explains what data I collect, why I collect it, and what your rights are under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR.
If you have questions, contact me via the Contact page.
1. What data I collect
I collect:
- Contact data when you message me: name, email, message.
- Support data (Buy Me a Coffee): name (optional), email (if shared), message. I don’t see payment details.
- Analytics data (Google Analytics 4) to understand how the site is used, including page views, scroll depth, outbound clicks, site search, form interactions, video engagement, and file downloads.
- Google signals (if you consent to Ads/Personalisation): Google may link your visit with your Google Account to provide aggregated demographics and interests reports and cross-device insights. I do not see your Google Account identity.
- User-ID (only if I enable a login or assign IDs): a pseudonymous identifier to measure sessions across devices. I do not combine this with your name or email.
- User-provided data (only if you choose to share it in forms I mark as such): email, phone, name, or address may be sent to Google in hashed form for measurement. I do not send sensitive categories.
- Granular location/device data from your browser (country/city, device, OS, browser). IP addresses are anonymised for analytics.
I don’t sell your data or share it for third-party marketing.
2. How I use your data
- Reply to messages.
- Run, protect, and improve the site.
- Measure readership and referrals.
- If you consent to Ads/Personalisation: enable Google signals reports and ad-related measurement features in GA4.
3. Cookies, analytics, and ads features
This site uses cookies and similar tech.
- Essential cookies: security and core site features.
- Analytics (GA4): set only with your consent.
- Ads/Personalisation features (off unless you consent): Google signals, demographics/interest reports, cross-device estimates, ad-related measurement, and user-provided data matching.
- Controls: You can accept Analytics, accept Ads/Personalisation, reject, or change settings any time via the “Change cookie settings” link on the Cookie Policy page.
To reduce risk:
- IP anonymisation is on for analytics.
- No remarketing lists are built on this site.
- I don’t combine User-ID with your name or email.
Google may process data on servers outside the UK/EU (often US). Transfers rely on the UK-US Data Bridge and EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
4. Legal basis
- Consent: analytics cookies; Google signals; Ads/Personalisation features; user-provided data matching; any User-ID tracking.

You have the right to:
- Access the personal data I hold about you.
- Ask for corrections or deletion of your data.

6. Data retention

- GA4 event data: up to 14 months.
- User-ID associations and user-provided data used for measurement follow GA4 retention settings and are then deleted or de-identified.
7. Children
This site is for adults. I don’t knowingly collect data from children under 13 (or the local minimum age).
8. Data transfers
Google may store and process anonymised data on servers outside the UK/EU. These transfers are protected under the UK-US Data Bridge and EU-US Data Privacy Framework to ensure adequate protection.

If I update how I collect or use data, I’ll revise this page. Please check it occasionally to stay informed.
